The Rose of Bagnoles de l'Orne

The Rose of Bagnoles de l'Orne

The Bagnoles de l'Orne rose has been commercialised since May 2014.

As it takes two years to cultivate a rose, only a handful were available in the first year. The numbers produced have gradually increased for 2015 and 2016.

You can reserve your Bagnoles de l'Orne rose at the Pépinières Lecomte Nursery. Reserve yours now.

About the rose

Deep, slightly salmon pink, the bud opens a rustle of a thousand petals, tightly wrapped in their flat cup of soft opaline.

The Bagnoles de l'Orne rose is the fruit of a cross between Minouchette and Lyric. It was born in the Croix nurseries near Saint-Etienne, the very place where "Smiling Orchid," another celebrated splendour was created, many years ago.

The Bagnoles de l'Orne rosebush has a hardy foliage of a dense and dark green. Elegant, multiple flowering, delicately scented and a good climber, it is a true beauty, adorned with many virtues, and already a great deal of recognition — a winner at the Lyons flower show, it also won the gold medal at the new roses competition in Rome 2012.

It will grow wonderfully in the parks and flowerbeds of Bagnoles de l'Orne, around the wide greens and flower beds of the town... before local enthusiasts and visitors take over, in their own gardens.

Today produced by Lecomte Nurseries - the only producer of roses in Normandy - the new rose was formally presented and baptised at the Bagnoles de l'Orne flower festival on June 9, 2013.

Sponsors of the Bagnoles de l'Orne rose are the actor François Morel and television host and gardener Stéphane Marie, who were present for the event.

Representatives of "Rose" magazine (specially published for women diagnosed with cancer) and the Mammobile mammography van, which travels the roads of the Orne carrying out breast screening, are our preferred partners and will benefit from royalties earned by the town on the sale of its roses.

"Rose de Bagnoles de l'Orne", créée pour fêter les 100 ans de Bagnoles de l'Orne.
