The town hall - castle

Our town hall - a real castle

During this visit you will discover the Town Hall's architecture and go inside to visit the mayor's chambers, the council chamber and the marriage hall.

Travel in time with tales of the castle's different owners and inhabitants.

The earliest of these was a family of modest means, the Goupils, who mysteriously made their fortune, acquiring vast tracts of land in the area, and who built the neo-Renaissance style castle in 1859.

The next owner was Mrs Duval, a rich Parisian who lived in the castle between the world wars.

Finally, the municipality of Tesse la Madeleine bought the castle in order to convert it into its town hall — and it also became that of the new town of Bagnoles de l'Orne after the two towns merged in 2000.
